Pure enjoyment! May 10, 2004 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
I'm a big fan of Charlotte Church, so the first couple of times I listened to this CD all I could do was compare her voice to Charlotte Church. This took some of the enjoyment out of it but once I got past that and could really listen to the CD I loved it. Haley has such a beautiful voice! My favorite is River of Dreams. I did groan at the fact that they put Amazing Grace on the CD because I think the song has been so overdone, even though she does sing it beautifully. I personally would steer clear of any songs Charlotte Church has sung (this CD has 2 Charlotte Church songs) because it magnifies the desire to compare the two, rather than helping you to see them as uniquely talented singers. I also agreed with another reviewer who felt that she was drowned out by some of the arrangements. But overall, this is a great CD and I'll be on the lookout for her next one.
Lovely voice OVER-SHADOWED by over-the-top arrangements May 8, 2004 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
Hayley is a remarkable talent, it's too bad her producers and arrangers get in the way. From the opening track you hear her lovely voice, and just as you settle in to enjoy it you get hammered over the head with boorish arrangements: a death grip on beats 1 & 3, choirs that parody the worst 60s recordings with arrangements to match, and cliche key changes a la Barry Manilow. Like wrapping a boquet of roses in cotton candy. So give the arrangers & producers 0.5 stars and Hayley 5 stars. I hope on her next album Sir George & company find a more appropriate setting for her talent.
Divine "Wuthering Heights" May 7, 2004 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am especially drawn to the last track called "Wuthering Heights". She really showcases her amazing and "pure" talent on this last piece of the album, makes "Wuthering Heights" pictured as a bit mystical, mysterious yet magical place. (just the image that keeps dancing in my head everytime I listen to the song, and I listen to it like 100 times a day) I can't really say the same for the rest of the collections in this album. My other favorites are "Never Say Goodbye", "Who Painted the Moon Black?", "Beat of Your heart", easier pieces to follow and listen to for the amateur or "wannabe" in us. However, I feel that there is no strong STAR stage persona (charisma) and confidence delivered on each song in the album, again with an exception for the last track. Don't get me wrong, I really like this album and I'd highly recomend it to all my friends. She just needs that extra bits of "oomph". Hey, at her age, she has time to catch up and some rooms for improvements!! ^_^ I'm looking forward for her next album already.

Amazing voice, how sweet the sound! April 30, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I never dreamt there were voices as pretty as this! Hayley is easily the preeminent singer of her generation. If anyone can find another voice as sweet and lovely I will be astonished.
